She’s determined to impress society and her mother with an affluent match, at last escaping her past and embracing a future of her own making.

Peter Strauss, an American reporter visiting England, isn’t exactly what Alice had in mind. However, his friendship proves invaluable as Alice faces the challenges of her debut. Almost immediately, she attracts the attention of a well-born gentleman—perfect save for the simple fact that he’s not a Christian.

The life she longs for is finally at her fingertips, but between her own heart and the convictions of her faith, she isn’t sure she ought to grasp it.

Find it on Amazon and Goodreads.

This book was such a fun and relaxing read, but at the same time it dealt with tough themes and really made me think. I loved reading about new characters and seeing old ones grow and learn. Little Alice is growing up so fast! That’s what I like about The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy. We can see characters grow up and mature over many books, which isn’t something I’ve seen a lot. I love it!

I also really liked the themes of following and trusting in God’s plan. This book gave me a lot to think about, and I can’t wait to reread it to get even more out of it. It did feature a love triangle of sort, but I think the triangle was done well. It played a big part in the plot and wasn’t super cliche love triangle-y. There were times when I wanted to die of the cuteness of Alice and Peter, and other times when I wanted to yell at Alice to forget Gibson Ashfield and go with Peter.

The Cuteness is in the Details

I loved the cute little details and subplots. Cassie and Montgomery were so fun to read about, and I really enjoyed seeing Alice and Ivy’s little siblings (although, suspiciously similar to my siblings, I couldn’t keep them straight) I loved reading about Peter helping solve sibling arguments with some very grown up logic, yet still making sense to the little kids.

The Amazing Peter

Peter is my new favorite character. What writer isn’t going to love this Jane Eyre quoting, profound thinking, and adorably awkward character? I fell for his book quotes right away. One of the things I wasn’t a huge fan of was that he was described as being awkward, but never really actually was awkward. Or to the extent of awkwardness that I would deem adorably awkward. He talked concisely and didn’t fumble around a lot. Still, I loved him.

Peter and Alice seemed so realistic, and I really enjoyed seeing them learn and grow. Peter still had to reconcile with things of his past, and Alice had to learn to trust in God’s plan. It’s really enjoyable to see characters grow and learn, just like real life humans do.

Gibson Ashfield

Now onto the subject of Gibson Ashfield. I was suspicious of him from the start and was happy when Alice stopped having a relationship with him. I almost shouted YES THANK YOU, but I was driving in the car with my family around 11pm and that would have been a *bit* disturbing. I feel like he was so obviously a villain from the start. This made it hard for me to sympathise with Alice trying to decide if it was a good idea to marry Gibson Ashfield because it is so plainly obvious that it is not. But sometimes you are going to see a character make a stupid decision, and during the moment you will want to shake their shoulders and ask “Why would you do that?!” Unfortunately, we can’t do that to fictional characters, but it is great to see them learn from said mistakes.

Fluffy Endings are the Absolute Best

Can we talk about how sweet and fluffy the ending was?! It was so satisfying, a bit sappy, and I was really happy to see Alice finally choose Peter. Overall it was adorable and I was really really happy. And then, the epilogue… KELL WE NEED THE NEXT BOOK.

The thing I like about these books is that they really force me to slow down and think. The plot of this book was a bit slow, but it was packed full with so many things I wanted to think about and ponder, I never really got bored.

Overall, I loved this book and can’t wait to hold a physical copy because it releases in 2 DAYS! On July 17th, you will be able to buy a copy for yourself and read this super sweet and meaningful romance. There is also a giveaway and Instagram challenge!

And be sure to follow the rest of the tour!

Thursday, July 15th

Introducing Alice // Kellyn Roth @ Reveries & Lilacs

Interview with Gibson Ashfield // SawyerMarie @ SundropGirls

Review // Kristina Hall, Author

Friday, July 16th

Introducing … Love Interests!? // Kellyn Roth @ Reveries & Lilacs

Interview with Ivy Knight // Grace A.
